How to get a hot summer body – Getting fit for the summer.
When To Start
Simply put, in order to get yourself a hot summer body, you need to start eating healthy and working out in the winter. Even though summer officially begins June 21st, it starts to get hot enough to sport a fit summer body around the end of May. That means you can’t just wait until the end of April to start prepping.
The earlier you start, the better.
What Do I Need To Do?
That depends on what your goals are. If you have some extra chunk on you and you want to be rid of that before summer comes along, then you need to cut down on the crap foods and exercise more. If you need to lose more than 10 pounds by summer, it’s best if you keep some of the following things in mind:
- Fat burns off when your metabolism increases. You metabolism increases when you exercising and eat healthier foods without eating crap foods. You metabolism needs to gain momentum. It takes about 4 weeks for that momentum to start moving. You should not give yourself a “cheat day” until you are 4 weeks into your fitness journey. After your body has obtained some momentum, you can afford more frequent cheat days.
- Fat also burns when you build muscle. You build muscle by lifting weights and doing resistance training. This is far more effective than simply cardio. When you want to lose weight, that means less time on the treadmill and more lifting weights.
- When you are watching your food intake, it can be difficult to avoid crap foods at times. Sometimes social situations call for the consumption of cake or other deserts that you are otherwise trying to avoid. “Oh but it’s so-and-so’s birthday,” “My grandparents are in town and they are never around!” “My friends and I rarely get together anymore!” If it’s a once time thing then that’s fine. The problem occurs when there are multiple one time things in a row. Don’t make excuses. Don’t bullshit yourself. Your body doesn’t care who’s birthday it is. If you want to tack on more cheat days, go ahead – but be honest with yourself about it.

Toning Muscle For That Hot Summer Body
Toning muscle, simply put, is giving your pre-existing muscle some definition. After you burn all of your fat or freshly build a lot of muscle, your muscles may be visible but they won’t be cut and define. You tone muscles by lifting lighter weights in more repetitions. If you’re trying to build muscles, you’ll typically do 3 sets of 7 lifting something about 80% of your maximum strength. When toning, you’ll want to do 3 or 4 sets of 10 or 12 with something about 60% of your maximum strength. Do this for:

IMPORTANT: keep in mind that you must tone your muscles only AFTER you have burned a sufficient amount of fat. Otherwise your toned muscles will be completely covered by the fat and no one will be able to see them.
